Rewarding Your Goals

Every Goal should have a reward attached to it! A lot of the time this reward is food. If I lose 6kgs I’m going to eat a piece of cheesecake… If I workout 6 times this week I am going to eat 2 whole pizza’s… Why is this less than ideal? Are there better ways to reward yourself?

Firstly, lets address using food as rewards. Now, I’m not saying this is wrong… in my opinion though, by rewarding yourself with food you’re telling yourself you’re not allowed to eat that food unless you’ve hit that goal. With this being the case, if you do “slip up” and eat that food before you’ve reached your goal you will more than likely have a very negative reaction and possibly get into the mindset of “I can’t do this, I may as well give up.”

I advocate a balanced approach to life and fat loss. I believe you need to be able to have small treats every now and then. This way, you’re much less inclined to “binge” on these foods resulting in feeling guilty afterwards. Also, if you allow yourself to have a small treat every now and then you’re much more likely to be able to sustain that way of life long term and maintain those results you worked so hard for.

So what should your rewards be? Well this is extremely personalized. If you absolutely love food and no other rewards could possibly give you any incentive, how about finding a really nice restaurant you would like to go to and reward yourself with a night out rather than a specific food. You could also reward yourself with a weekend away, a new piece of makeup, a new surfboard, a trip to the beach… whatever interests you! Just make it something you will really want to strive to achieve! Go get goal setting! I’d love to hear what your goals are below and your rewards so feel free to leave a comment!
